Erick Lemon serves as the Director of Digital Strategies and Innovation at the Medical University of South Carolina (¶¶Òõpro) Libraries. With over 25 years of experience in information technology and academic leadership, Erick has consistently demonstrated a commitment to advancing innovative solutions in healthcare education, research, and digital systems.
Erick earned his Master's degree in Information Technology from Kennesaw State University, complementing a Bachelor's degree in Technology Support and Training Management from the University of South Carolina and an Associate's degree in Computer Technology Networking Information Systems from Trident Technical College.
Since 2018, Erick has reshaped ¶¶Òõpro Libraries' IT infrastructure, leading the integration of cutting-edge technologies to enhance the institution's teaching, learning, research, and clinical missions. His leadership spans the development of user-friendly library systems, managing dual-platform environments, overseeing public computing infrastructure, and spearheading the implementation of innovative digital strategies. He is also instrumental in managing the DREAM Studio (Design, Research, Education, and Additive Manufacturing), a makerspace fostering collaboration in 3D printing, VR, and healthcare technology.
Erick's dedication to advancing technology extends beyond ¶¶Òõpro. He has held pivotal roles at Augusta University, where he contributed to major IT initiatives, including enterprise system implementations and academic technology support. His expertise also includes facilitating professional workshops, contributing to scholarly publications, and presenting at national and international conferences on topics such as AI in education, virtual reality, and 3D printing applications in healthcare.
As Principal Investigator for a $20,000 outreach grant, Erick leads efforts to improve accessibility and adaptive technology for the Coastal Center, driving statewide initiatives in care and facility enhancement. He actively participates in professional organizations, including the American Library Association (ALA) and Educause, and serves on several advisory and innovation committees.
A champion of collaboration and inclusivity, Erick continues to bridge the gap between technology and education, ensuring the alignment of digital strategies with institutional goals to meet the evolving needs of healthcare and academic communities.
